About the Estate at Eagle Lake
Located in Chesterfield, NJ, this historic garden venue is home to an underground bunker, a gorgeous lake and multiple outdoor spots. Only open from the third weekend in April to the second weekend in November, this lakeside hot spot is a coveted wedding venue. Along with the Estate itself, this property is comprised of a 6-acre lake and 25 acres of woodlands. History Hot Spot
For most of the estate’s history, the estate itself was known as “The Bunker” by locals, and for good reason. Dating back to the 1970’s, Thomas Cousins etched out a special hillside spot for him to build his bunker into. The bunker included a courtyard with a secret tunnel, a radio tower, a green house, dog kennels and so much more. An estate home was supposed to be built across the lake on the hill, but unfortunately the owner passed away from a heart attack before it was ever built.
From that point on, the estate was actually abandoned until a young entrepreneur saw the property for sale and saw all that it could be! A white sand beach was created by the lakeside. A perennial garden was erected in replace of the weedy fields. The estate was being resurrected, and people certainly noticed.
After 18 years, the property was sold again, and the Estate at Eagle Lake was officially completed. It opened its doors to the public for events such as weddings, Fourth of July celebrations, and private lakeside parties. It’s no surprise that the rich history of this property is one of the many things that makes it so enticing to rent out. The rest went down in history!
Lakeside ‘I Do’s’

Picture this… your day starts early on with time to take a breather and go exploring before guests are anxious to see you. Of course, you’ll want to post for those early on Estate at Eagle Lake wedding photos, too! When you are all dressed up and ready to go, you enter the outdoor Eagle Lake Amphitheater where your guests are anticipating your special vows and the kiss to seal the deal! This waterfront ceremony space features classic white chairs for loved ones to fill. Oh, and we can’t forget to mention how every seat in the house has a perfect lake view!
Next, its finally time for cocktails! Couples can choose between a variety of spots (like the Koi and Sky Garden) on the property to host their cocktail hour. Sounds fancy, right?! This quaint spot is perfect for sipping on refreshing drinks and light appetizers just before indulging on an amazing meal!
The wedding party will then arrive at its final destination…the tented banquette area all set up for a night of celebration! Known as the Bunker Room, the space is a crowd-pleaser all in its own right, comfortably accommodating up to 180 guests. The simple charm of the ceiling draping is accompanied by stunning chandeliers. A couple can choose a table type (circular or rectangle) as well as centerpieces used. This 3000-square foot area is sure to leave everyone in a dancing mood!
Keeping The Love ‘Reel’ By the Lake!
You’re on lake time! When a couple decides to share their lakeside ‘I Do’s’ here, they are renting out the property for the entire day. Open 8 am to 11 pm, couples can utilize the vast property from start to finish. Whether it be catching rays on the white sand lakeside beach, or simply enjoying a fire pit, couples have full use of the incredible amenities!
One of our couples, Katherine and Tom, took advantage of the Estate for picturesque backgrounds, golf carts, and romantic gazebos for their photos. For a few shots, the couple even stood in front of the lake and kayaks inside. The groom and his groomsmen used a bulldozer on property to stage funky photos. Wedding Wow’s
Wowing your guests is what this estate does best! Another share-worthy couple that really ‘wow-ed’ us was Cecilia and Mike. These cuties took photos on the Estate’s dock, close to where they also hosted their cocktail hour. Before the party could begin, the couple said their vows at the outdoor Amphitheater. With drinks in hand, the guests were played awesome yard games like giant jenga and corn hole. Later, the fun continued on to the tented reception area where they used gorgeous floral arrangements to decorate the already breathtaking space. You definitely do not want to miss reading their full story!
Although Gina and Kevin also used the tented banquet area, they made the space all their own and personal for their wedding. The couple had string lights intertwined around the perimeter of the tent to add a touch of romance and glow. In addition, the table cloths were a warm champagne color and finished off with small plant centerpieces. The sweethearts table was a wooden barn table with white roses perfectly spilling off the front. This wedding was stunning and had guests in awe (and us, too!) of both the couple and the venue.
