Alex Karas, Enchanted Celebration’s executive director and Rock the Aisle’s director of marketing strategy, was quoted in a Press of Atlantic City story saying, “the economy definitely hit last year, but over this past booking season, it seems people are spending more on the wedding and planning longer.” Karas explained, “People aren’t really doing the one-year engagements anymore. They’re (longer) to help plan and save for the wedding.”

With the average wedding in New Jersey costing about $31,000 in 2009, according to The Wedding Report, many couples are doing just that. Attendees Ben Pratt and Amy Bardenhagen are a perfect example. They have attended numerous bridal shows since their engagement almost one year ago. “We’re just browsing, trying to find vendors for decent prices,” said Pratt.

Bridal shows are perfect for couples trying to save money because they allow them to see various vendors and their competitors. Shows also offer couples the ability to shop for everything they need at once taking advantage of package deals.
