Not even two full months into 2010 and our NJ brides are already leaning towards a few very specific trends in their wedding photography packages.

Black and White Wedding Photos

First, is with the photography packaged booked; they are moving back to all inclusive packages. In late 2009 we saw a shift to a la carte packages that were shoot to burn with the option of ordering albums and prints after the wedding. But at the start of 2010, brides to be are looking to book all inclusive photography packages that include unlimited shooting hours, professional wedding album, large selection of additional prints, online image hosting, unlimited editing on images, and the high-resolution DVD of all of the wedding photos. Which brings me to the next trend.

The requests for the proofs/high resolution photo discs are in high demand; the highest they have ever been. With social media websites and photo printing kiosks at local big box stores we are seeing a shift to the do it yourself wedding photography printing at such locations. Most, if not all of my colleges scoff at this because they are losing some serious revenue but, at Enchanted Celebrations, we are embracing it! We take the stand that, “Hey if you want to print hundreds of your wedding pictures that WE took and tell ALL of your friends, go ahead!” With the use of social media and kiosk printing we are getting more referrals than ever. Also, we still have the convenience of working with a professional photography lab so if brides do want professionally printed wedding photos, we can still do at that in record time and with extremely high quality.

The last trend that we are seeing continue from last year are the requests for photojournalistic shooting styles in our wedding photographers. Luckily, when we bring on a new wedding photographer they have to be very well-rounded in all shooting styles from traditional to photojournalistic and everything in between. So this continuing trend is no problem for our shooters to keep up with. However, even if a bride requests a photojournalistic wedding photographer, they are getting a wedding photographer who will be more sensitive about that style although they will still take a wide variety of images. On a slow day, our  wedding photographers take around 700 images. Now, with that high-resolution CD of all of the images, the bride has control over what pictures to post on facebook, have printed, or to tweet to her friends and family.
